As far as the newest crop of television sets released recently goes, the Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10 appears to be receiving very positive reviews.

It looks stylish, despite its low cost. The only control visible on the front is an on / off switch. Even the speakers can’t be viewed, as they point slightly downwards from the rear. The TX-P50X10 looks like a much more expensive TV.

Sound reproduction on the TX-P50X10 leaves a little to be desired. This is, however, perfectly acceptable in modern thin, flat screen TVs. Improving the sound is as simple as adding a surround sound system using the standard RCA output jacks built into the unit.

Inputs include HDMI, SCART, PC, S Video, and Composite. The Panasonic TX-P50X10 also includes an SD input slot for playing content back from an external device, such as content downloaded from the web to a computer.

The on-screen menu system that Panasonic provides on the TX-P50X10 is one of Panasonic’s strongest points – very simple and easy to use.

Consistent with all of its plasma sets, viewing is possible from any angle, making the TX-P50X10 versatile for most rooms. The picture is surprisingly really good for such a good value TV. Lots of detail and good tones – particularly via the Freeview tuner.

All in all, if one is in the market for a new plasma TV set, the Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10 ought to be on your shortlist.
